The Sailor's Revenge - American release10/6/2012 The official American release date for Bap Kennedy's new album The Sailor’s Revenge is 5th June 2012. The Sailor’s Revenge is the outcome of a creative collaboration between Bap & Mark Knopfler. All songs on the album have been written by Bap. The album was recorded at Mark’s studio, with Mark playing guitar on 6 of the 11 tracks and also singing some backing vocals. It is rare for Mark to produce for another artist, but he has been closely involved with The Sailor’s Revenge from start to finish. Between Bap and Mark they carefully selected, from a large batch of new Bap songs, a collection that fitted the theme of the album.
The Sailor’s Revenge is being released by Proper America and features various members of Mark’s band as well as top drawer session musicians such as Jerry Douglas and Ian Thomas. Bap Kennedy's album "The Sailor's Revenge" continues to receive excellent reviews following its recent American release. Pittsburgh Daily News "In Tune" has awarded it 4 stars.
"Irish singer/songwriter perfectly melds the folk traditions of both his homeland and America on the mesmerising new album "The Sailor's Revenge" Under the steady hand of producer Mark Knopfler, Kennedy has crafted one of the best albums of his distinguished career. There's not a bad song to be found among the 11 gathered here, with Kennedy especially effective on "Shimnavale", "Jimmy Sanchez", "Lonely No More", "Please Return To Jesus", "The Beauty Of You" and "Celtic Sea" Highly recommended (JS) BBC Radio 4 adopts Domestic Blues1/6/2012 Radio 4's new Tuesday night programme 'Happy Tuesdays' has adopted Bap Kennedy's "Domestic Blues" as its theme tune!
